This is education, not advice
The information here is written for the general reader and does not replace a personal medical consultation. It cannot tell you how much of the fullness in your neck is fat and how much is skin, or whether either operation is appropriate for you.
Neither operation is a default
Nothing on this site should be read as ranking one operation above the other, or as describing liposuction as the sensible first step. They treat different tissues, both are irreversible, both leave scars, and the choice follows from an examination rather than from a clinic’s routine.
No outcome is guaranteed
No treatment can be guaranteed. How much a neck improves and how long the change holds vary between individuals, and a lift result is judged honestly only after several months. Weight change after liposuction alters the contour that was created.
Scars, nerves and emergencies
A neck lift leaves permanent scars behind the ear and in the hairline; they mature and soften over a year or more but do not disappear. Numbness of the skin of the neck and around the ear is common and usually settles over months. A collection of blood under the skin, a wound that opens, or spreading redness with fever needs urgent assessment rather than a routine follow-up.
